Sami P. Heikkinen

I am a Senior Lecturer at LAB University of Applied Sciences in Finland, where I currently work in the Growth & Commercialization research group led by Outi-Maaria Palo-oja. I received my PhD from the University of Eastern Finland in 2025, with a dissertation on learning analytics and the temporal dynamics of self-regulated learning. The doctoral research was carried out in the learning analytics research group led by Mohammed Saqr.

My research combines learning analytics, self-regulated learning, social network analysis and service and tourism research. I am also interested in how large language models can be used to simulate survey respondents (synthetic personas and silicon sampling). I serve as an associate editor for Frontiers in Education.

This site lists my publications together with author versions of the articles, which are free to read.
